This web tool visualizes present-day storm surge levels and future sea-level rise. The data and maps illustrate the potential scale of inundation. The tool has applications for preparedness and prevention in risk management and adaptation to climate change.

These interactive maps are based on the guidelines for local planning from the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) which are based on the report “Sea-level Rise and Extremes in Norway” from 2024.

The dataset based on the new guidelines will be gradually improved for a while. For instance, will isolated flooded areas on land be removed, as they will not experience flooding from the sea.

Use geonorge.no to download inundation layers for custom GIS applications, and to access statistics on buildings, area and roads affected by coastal flooding in your community.

While every effort has gone into ensuring the accuracy and correctness of the data and maps shown, appropriate use and conclusions drawn from the information presented here are the responsibility of the user.
